The landscape on the way to Modena was exactly what I had hoped for.....vineyard after vineyard. Just gorgeous. It was evident on the drive in that Modena has the highest gross income per capita in Italy with the numerous fancy car dealerships outside of the city center. The city center of Modena was equally beautiful but larger than expected.
We had one of the best meals of our trip in Modena...a tiny restaurant with no menu and all locals....that's a good sign, right? All of the pastas were homemade and out of this world delicious.
We hit the food market across the street where we bought fresh porcinis and fresh pasts for dinner.
I saved the best for last.....with much difficult navigation in the back woods of Modena we found La Duchessa. A balsamic and lambrusco vineyard. We arrived unexpectedly but were graciously taken in by the owners --Ivanno and Titiano-- for a tour and tasting. Incredible products and C.U.T.E couple!!! They named the vineyard after Ivanno's nickname for Titiano. See, so cute!! Mel and Ang we have a treat for you!!

Oh my goodness, it all looks absolutely amazing! Lucky you! But lucky me too! Looks like you are having such a great time. Every day I look forward to seeing your updates.
I seriously just made a sort of giddy gasp when I read this post! Your super secret balsamic vinegar excursion is like Italy's version of a back room bag!
