Update on Arm

Just got a call from the doc. He got a second opinion on my xrays and found a hairline fracture! He's having another radiologist look at it tomorrow to confirm. Looks like my triathlon is off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really upset about this whole mess (frankly pissed off at myself) but Chris brought home some ice cream for me to cheer me up. Guess I can't stay upset when I have such a sweet husband, aw!!!

I’m no Lance Armstrong. Duh, right! The understatement of the century. Here’s the thing….he and the other cyclist out there make putting one foot in front of the other (so to speak in cycling) look kind of easy. No problem. I can’t do the miles and mountains but I can at least hop on a road bike, clip in and ride a freakin’ bike for a couple of miles! Um, yeah, not so fast slick. Clip in pedals….not so easy. I discovered this yesterday when I took a tumble at my first intersection on my first road bike ride ever with clip in pedals. I thought I was hot stuff unclipping my right foot way in advance. I can do this. What’s all the fuss about? I’m such a stud. But then I actually had to stop. I lost my mind and apparently my coordination, couldn’t get my left foot out and flopped over. My left arm went numb. I couldn’t even pick up the bike but somehow I managed to get the left clip in out while on the ground (great…I bit too late). Thank goodness for cell phones so I called Chris to the rescue!
The good news is that I had my arm checked out this morning and it is NOT broken…a ligament strain which will take some time to heal. The bad news is that my triathlon training has been compromised and it’s difficult to do day to day stuff like say picking up my baby and typing this message. Oh, well, it’s a learning experience. And, no, I am not clipping in for the race!!! Lesson learned.

Florida: Take 2

My days are generally pretty predictable but for the last couple of weeks it has been a bit out of the ordinary and hectic for me. I've had 2 --3 day meetings which means lots of sitting and lots of work to catch up on when I get back to the office! Lucky for me though this week's conference was in Miami. I took the family to enjoy some fun in the sun. And they sure did---see!

Family (and the boobs)

I don't know, Chris had us pose this way

The Queen!

The Resort Gardens (this was a pomegrante tree)

Not a fan of peaches I guess

OK, last day...we were tired and silly:-))

The Publican

After months and months of trying to get there, Chris and I finally made it to the Publican last night to celebrate his birthday.  Let me say that it was worth the wait!!!.  Our entire experience was perfect!  And our waitress Kim was hands down the best waitress/waiter I have ever had ....knowledgable about every item on the menu (and all of the beers which is saying a lot 50+), passionate about every item on the menu, adorable, great personality, I could go on and on.  I just wanted to hang out with her and chat (and I think we hogged her a little but it was Chris birthday, right).  I may even have a little crush on her :-))  We are already planning our next trip here.  In Chicago we are fortunate to have our pick of wonderful restaurants but restaurants with the entire package are rare.  This is truly a gem!  Oh, and you have to check out the bathrooms too!

I didn't think that I liked beers at all but apparently I had not had the right beer for me yet.  She was on mark with every single recommendation.

We decided to make it a unique eating experience night. This is what I mean--

Charcuterie Plate

Homemade Fries with Egg and Aioli

Duck Heart

Veal Sweetbreads

Sausage, Smoked Turkey and Pork Confit

and then the chocolate!
