Abby Manor Masquerade
This is what we awoke to this morning......not our normal Saturday night throwdowns....
Chris and Melissa (of the Elsmos) have been throwing around the idea of co-hosting a dinner party for a while. The party evolved into a murder mystery party and the event was last night. We have some really wild and crazy friends which makes our lives very interesting!! Chris and Melissa did a top-notch job. No detail was left out and the food... well, the food was simply out of this world---5 course meal ending with a deadly dessert! We went through 10 bottles of wine and lost count on the cordials. It goes without saying that this was a rocking party and we all had a blast. Chris played Sherlock Tracy an infamous homicide detective with a reality TV show (go figure) who was quite obnoxious.....and was the VICTIM. I played Yuna Verz an astronaut with who pretends that she is the smartest person in the room (but it turns out she's simply average). I was a suspect in the death of Sherlock, but ultimately not the killer even though I was planning his murder for another day. Thanks to all of our friends who were totally into the party and especially to Chris and Melissa for all of their hard work!!!

Bird's Nest
No, not the soup in the Chinese culture......
Each Spring we host a family of birds on the water spout at our back door. We think they are Robins. They are back this year. It's always fun to watch them grow and to see the funny things that the mom uses to make the nest. This year she used a pink string from one of M's balloons that I guess was left outside. Neat!

Tutus and More
Today was observation day at M's dance class. Chris was able to sit in and watch the little butterfly. She was so excited to show off her moves to dad. Adorable!

Spirits or Mental Illness?
If you are not a believer in spirits, here's some food for thought.
This morning Chris woke for an early bike ride. Like normal he went into M’s room to give her a kiss before leaving. After leaving her room, he said that he turned to walk towards the stairs (which are only a few feet from M’s room) and was startled by hearing loud stomps going DOWN the stairs. He immediately ran into our room where I was sleeping, woke me and told me the story. Okay, I have watched too many Freddy and Jason movies in my time so I’m thinking DON’T GO DOWNSTAIRS!!! That’s what the dumb people always do in the movies. Then I pulled myself together realizing that I'm not in a movie and we searched the entire house with a flimsy handle from our upstairs vacuum cleaner in hand….we looked in closets, behind doors, under the stairs, etc. All of the deadbolts were still locked so no one could have entered the house and locked the door behind him. We returned upstairs to check on M once again and then Chris left for his ride. A little weird, right!
Well, it gets weirder (is that a word?). When Chris went back downstairs to leave he found a butterfly fluttering around on the floor in the kitchen. We didn’t see the butterfly when we were down there only minutes before! He said that it seemed hurt and it didn’t fly away from Chris. He captured it for M to see when she woke up. We then released it and it flew away as if nothing was wrong with it.
Another twist....when I was putting M to sleep last night she asked me not to let the monsters in her room when I left. She didn't seem scared, but rather more of a matter of fact type of statement. She’s never talked about monsters like that before and I thought absolutely nothing of it….chalked it up to her imagination….then this morning’s events happened. I’m not sure what all of this means, but it’s pretty interesting and creepy at the same time. Needless to say, I didn’t go back to sleep this morning (and I still don’t sleep with my limbs off of the bed because of the crazy scary movies I used to LOVE)!!!

Ummmmm.....
85 to 28, all in the same day. Seriously!!!!
We returned from our sunny Florida vacation today to a sobering reality that we live in the frozen tundra. We joined Aunt Connie and Uncle Paul at their timeshare in Orlando and had an absolute blast..... put put golf, 3 swimming areas, beach, restaurants, tennis courts, basketball courts, Braves baseball, etc. M learned lots of new games and found a new tickle buddy. It was hard to come home :-))

Little Sponges
I know this is such a cliché but kids really are like little sponges. Every time we drive close to M’s dance class building she always points out that her dance class is over “there”. She still remembers the “marble” drink she had at a local Japanese restaurant a few months ago. Last week, M went downtown with Chris and I to my doctor’s office for the ultrasound. Chris pointed out the top of the building to M…..it’s blue. Yesterday, we were back in the city and passed by my doctor’s office from LSD which was not where she originally saw the building last week. She got all excited and pointed out that the blue building is where “Dr. Wilson” (that’s her doctor but she thinks all doctors are Dr. Wilson…too cute!!) will take her baby sister out of mommy's belly. I thought that was really amazing that she could point out that building out of the dozens of others surrounding it! Another funny thing is that we passed by a McDonald’s restaurant in the city and she said, “Hey, that’s McDonald’s! The “M” stands for McDonald’s.” (she’s learning what letters start with so she’s really into that now) I really don’t know why that surprised Chris and I so much except for the fact that she rarely goes there. Then, I tried to explain that I work for McDonald’s….that was an interesting discussion.
